Once again when someone talks about a Detroit team, they insult the city. Seriously, Detroit has problems but so does every city in America and the blue collar residents are much better than the ass hole from Boston or New York.

I’m a Detroit fan from Minnesota (have been since the early days of Fedorov) and while you have good points about Holmstrom and Bertuzzi, the rant about illogical Detroit fans is annoying. Yes I realize this is just a writer writing in a style trying to get people to notice him and think he’s witty, but it’s writing that almost any community college “grad” could pull off.

Good hockey points.

Annoying, bitchy lambasting of fans.

The post was funny for a while until you (and the Hawks fan — SURPRISE) complain and declare that every single fan of the Red Wings is illogical and prone to beliefs in absurd and retarded “conspiracies”. I’m a Detroit fan and I like the story of the Phoenix Coyotes. I even like Crosby (not so much Malkin, but that’s another story). The story was cute and funny until you moronishly (yes, you can go ahead and call me a moron for making up a word) lump every single Detroit fan into one cesspool of bitchy losers who think everybody is out to get them and there is nothing good to find outside of the Detroit organization.

Am I bitching about you disgracing my Red Wings and not believing the conspiracies? No. Like I said, you have good hockey points that I agree with, and the conspiracies are piles of shit that should be laughed at. I’m bitching because you lump me together with the idiot Detroit fans.

I thought it was funny and fairy true. It’s way too easy to make fun of Detroit, but this was a pretty good job. Good point on Holmstrom (and really I think a lot of the wings). They play like dicks and don’t stand up for themselves. They’re like Anaheim without the testicles.

The fanbase can complain when it does one of the following two things.
Eliminates the empty seats in the playoffs.
Stops saying “Hockeytown” every other sentence.

There are some parts of the article that I totally agree with.
As i wings fan, i do agree that the majority of our fan base is rather arrogant and complain a ridiculous amount. However, do not hastily generalize the entire fan base, becausenot all of us are like that.
Bertuzzi takes a sh*t load of stupid/lazy/costly penalties; and the Wings signed him for another two years… (Thank the hockey lords that Andreas Lilja and Jason Williams will not be returning to the team, if you watched any Wings games where either of those two players were in the line-up you understand)
Lidstrom has lost a step and it definitely showed when he played against San Jose’s top line. He’s still an above average defenseman.
Holmstrom can’t skate for sh*t; but he sure can sit in front of the net and cause havoc. I think he classifies under one of the players you hate unless they play for your team. (That’s you Pronger).

I enjoy the pictures that are altered with Paint that you include with your articles.

Keep posting on Yahoo so i have something good to read in regards to the NHL.

I’m telling you Lambert, not all Wings fans are like that. I bleed Red Wings hockey, but I’m also not an idiot. And so, on behalf of any ignorant, so-called “Wings fans” out there who’ll jump on somebody just for having an opinion, kudos to you for having the courage to say you don’t like them.

However, no matter how many blithering idiots support this team through its triumphs, try not to get the impression that DET’s true fans won’t stick with this team through its slow, painfully drawn-out decline. The days of the Elite Red Wings have come and gone, but the true members of Hockeytown will support this team whether they earn the President’s trophy or the number-one draft pick.

Let’s go Wings!

@Paul: You’re right, the Wings have about $13 million in cap space. They also have 11 roster slots to fill, including those of unrestricted free agents Lidstrom and Holmstrom.

Of course, a couple of those slots will probably be filled by Abdelkader and Helm… who are both RFAs, and are due a sizable bump in salary. Figure $2 million each for them, and you’re down to $9 million in space with 9 slots to fill. What kind of free agents can you attract for $1 million or less? (Better make it ‘or less’, if you want the cap room to manage your way through injuries.)

No matter how you slice it, the days of Detroit rolling four veteran lines are gone. I’d be careful about poking fun at Chicago’s cap situation, if I walked in Flying Tire shoes.
