Jack Edwards = Worst announcer in hockey (and it's not even close)

He completely ruined the World Cup while with ESPN and now ruins Bruins games on a regular basis.

Here's what really irks me about Edwards: Before each period when the camera is on them and Brick is talking, Jack just stares at him and nods repeatedly - as if he's thinking in his head "I want to kiss you" like Joe Namath. It's really creepy and he always does it.

Wow. I watch hockey everywhere it's available: CBC, TSN, Sportsnet, CentreIce, online. Everywhere. When I'm in the car I listen to games wherever I am.
I can without fear of contradiction say that Jack Edwards is closer to being the best announcer in hockey than he is to being the worst.
Sure, he's a homer. But no worse than every other radio guy in the hockey universe. And not noticeably worse than half the announcers on TV.

I'll be watching a Bruins game again when the entire training staff is unemployed. This has got to be the worst conditioned team in the history of pro sport. Sure, it's not uncommon to have a half-dozen or so guys out of the lineup for medical reasons at a given point in the season, but aren't SOME of them bound to be fourth liners/black aces/bus riders/old farts/ rookies? The Bruins are unable to field Bergeron, Sturm, Kessel, Ference, Lucic, Ward...Fernandes?
Picture the old Oilers teams without Kurri, Anderson, Messier, Gregg, McSorley, Smith and Moog. WTF???

Having not witnessed Edwards' call last night, I'm left to wonder how many neutral Bruins' broadcasters you've counted since the invention of radio. And how neutral is the play-by-play guy going to be when the team is 33-7 (or whatever)? Are they supposed to make up criticisms out of whole cloth: "Well, the Bruins are doing everything right on the ice tonight, but they probably all voted for McCain!!!"

Get over it. He's better than Dale Arnold: He has a sense of humility, the games are bigger than he is.

No matter what you think of Jack Edwards it really isn't fair to call him the worst announcer in pro sports as that distinction will forever belong to Tim McCarver.

I can't stand Jack Edwards. I'm cursed, living in Connecticut, allowing me to only see Bruins games with any regularity. I had no idea other people hated that guy as much as I do; I hate him because of his ridiculous bias because I'm a Habs fan.
Anyways, yesterday I was gleefully happy to see the Blues take a point away from the Bruins and to have Jack Edwards call it.

Jack Edwards does have redeeming qualities. I'd post some of them, but I have no clue what they might be, outside of the use of the phrase "queer street"
